Commercial Estimator
Wood is seeking a Cost Controller / Estimator to join its Commercial function within the Consulting business unit. This role will support the broader commercial and proposals teams.
The position is full-time and operates on a hybrid basis from Wood's Perth CBD office. The reporting line is to the Regional Commercial Manager APAC.
The Commercial function's objective is to realise returns, manage risk, and maximise opportunities. This function plays a significant role in enabling the organisation to achieve its full potential, capture the value it creates, and ensure appropriate client reward.
The Role The Cost Controller / Estimator will provide comprehensive cost breakdowns for the service offerings within the Consulting division, supporting the commercial and proposal teams. The role involves maximising commercial performance while managing business and project risks, both pre and post-contract, and ensuring adherence to relevant commercial and contracting policies.
The diverse nature of the Consulting division's work offers the successful candidate an opportunity to develop their skills by estimating on varied and innovative pricing structures. This is a valuable opportunity for an Estimator experienced in providing cost breakdowns and estimations on services who wishes to gain further experience across a diverse sector and contribute directly to the organisation's growth strategy.

Responsibilities Key objectives for this role include:
- Promoting and demonstrating safety leadership behaviours.
- Acting ethically and with integrity at all times.
- Championing and promoting the application of the Financial Management Framework guidelines.
- Championing and adhering to relevant DOA and commercial/contracting policies.
- Ensuring consistency of estimating approach across APAC, EMEA, and Americas.
- Leading the provision of:
- Support to the proposals team in calculating and providing personnel rates for tender document pricing sections.
- Reviewing commercial proposals (price tables) prior to submission for internal approval.
- Preparing pricing and associated qualifications.
- Preparation of annual and quarterly rate cards for the region/business.
- Preparation of estimates as required for bespoke pricing.
- Quarterly (or as otherwise agreed) updates of all cost elements of rate cards.

Expected:
- Previous experience in a finance, commercial estimating, or cost control position.
- Awareness of relevant corporate and project procedures for cost control and commercial estimating.
- Proven experience in providing cost breakdowns and estimations on services.
