This full-time (38-hour per week) role seeks an experienced and proactive Commercial and Finance Manager to join the team. The position is ideally based in Canberra but is open to applicants from all locations in Australia. This is a hybrid role, primarily conducted from a home office, with occasional attendance required at the Canberra office.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Commercial and Finance Manager is integral to ensuring commercial and financial operations are timely, accurate, and compliant. This dual-focused role will support both commercial and financial domains, interacting with multiple stakeholders and several executives. The position includes direct supervision of one team member.
As a key member of the business support team, you will manage ADCG’s commercial and contract activities and oversee the finance team. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and updating commercial documents, such as contracts and agreements, and advising executives on the commercial implications of new agreements. In the finance domain, you will manage and conduct finance administration and reporting. You will play a crucial role in developing and updating processes, maintaining documentation, and facilitating communication between business units including Finance, HR, and Marketing.
Day-to-day duties will include:
- Leading all commercial agreement and contract lines of effort, and advising the executive team on new commercial considerations.
- Updating current documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and developing new documents and SOPs where required.
- Management of and support to end-to-end finance operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, invoicing, reconciliations, and accounting.
- Responding to accounts enquiries from individual and corporate clients.
- Maintaining accurate financial data across accounting and CRM systems.
- Monitoring and following up outstanding invoices and payments.
- Supervising, and when required, conducting month-end processes, reporting, and financial record maintenance, providing reports and briefing Executives.
- Leading the development and maintenance of finance procedures and SOPs.
- Providing general commercial, finance, and administrative support to the broader ADCG team.
- Managing a small but growing team.
Key Requirements:
- A current AGSVA security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one, is essential. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
- Australian citizenship is a prerequisite for AGSVA security clearance sponsorship.
- Previous experience, ideally 5-10 years, in finance, accounts, or commercial (contract) officer roles, demonstrating a sound understanding of fundamental commercial (legal) and financial processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence using MS Office, CRM, payroll, and accounting applications.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Proven organisational and time management skills.
Sought after but not required:
- Certificate IV or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred but not required.
- Applicants with backgrounds and experience in Commercial Law will be viewed more competitively.
