Design & Engineering
CPP boasts the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, comprising over 190 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. They provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms, and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition. CPP engineers collaborate closely with construction and operations teams to ensure designs are practical, constructible, and continually refined through real-world feedback, delivering solutions that support a stable, reliable, and sustainable energy future.
The Opportunity
The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of substation commissioning, ensuring successful project delivery. This role involves supporting the scheduling, planning, and execution of commissioning activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Commissioning of Primary and Secondary equipment within a substation.
- Assisting the Design Office in preparing and developing HV system designs for projects and bids.
- Creating FAT and SAT documentation for installations requiring commissioning.
- Performing pre-commissioning tests and commissioning of new and refurbished parts and systems.
- Managing and supervising on-site work in accordance with project requirements and legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Providing timely “As Built” documentation.
This position is based from our South Granville NSW site, with travel to construction sites across Australia being required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Qualifications in an Electrical Trade, Associate Diploma, or Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Experience with Omicron CMC/CPC100/Testrano/CTA, or similar Doble brand equipment.
- CT/VT and transformer testing experience.
- HV cable testing experience.
- Protection relay and software experience using Micom, Siemens, SEL, and ABB.
- SCADA/61850 and networking experience is desirable.
- Comfort with travel and working outside of NSW.
- Experience in developing tenders, negotiating contracts, and effectively managing customer relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
