Company Accountant Private Advertiser Yatala, Queensland Full-time, Onsite
A well-established, small-to-medium civil construction company situated in Yatala is seeking an experienced Company Accountant. The business focuses on delivering high-quality infrastructure and earthworks projects throughout South East Queensland. With a consistent pipeline of work and a supportive team, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the finance department.
Reporting directly to senior management, this is a hands-on position responsible for managing the company’s financial operations from beginning to end. It is suited for an individual who performs well in a dynamic setting and enjoys involvement across all accounting and finance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Producing monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, project profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Managing payroll processing, including adherence to awards/Enterprise Bargaining Agreements where applicable.
- Maintaining the general ledger, performing reconciliations, and processing journal entries.
- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS), Pay As You Go (PAYG) withholdings, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations.
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for projects.
- Monitoring project costing and collaborating with operations to track financial performance.
- Managing fixed assets and capital expenditure.
- Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and advisors.
- Ensuring adherence to relevant financial regulations and company policies.
- Handling inter-company transfers and dealings with related entities.
- Managing fleet purchases and sales.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CA qualification, or working towards one, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a Company Accountant or Senior Accountant capacity.
- Experience within construction, civil, or project-based industries is highly regarded.
- Thorough understanding of Australian taxation and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or similar, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with operational teams.
