Construction Industry Bookkeeper
Trade Circle is seeking an experienced Construction Industry Bookkeeper for a part-time, onsite role in Melbourne VIC.
At Trade Circle, we value the quality of work and client relationships over hours clocked. We are looking for an independent and proactive bookkeeper with a genuine enjoyment for detail and a desire to empower business owners with clear financial insights. This role offers significant flexibility, allowing you to manage your own schedule as long as daily client file maintenance, prompt communication, and deadline adherence are maintained. This could include working during school hours, early mornings, evenings, or split shifts throughout the day.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven bookkeeping experience specifically within the construction industry is essential. Applications without this experience will not be suitable.
- Advanced knowledge of Xero.
- Strong experience with construction job management software and its integration with Xero. This includes understanding data flow between systems, troubleshooting common issues, and maintaining accurate financial records across integrated platforms. Examples of relevant software include SimPRO, AroFlo, Fergus, ServiceM8, Tradify, or similar.
Responsibilities:
Your work will be instrumental in helping business owners understand their financial position, manage cash flow, and make informed decisions. You will be confident, organised, and possess a genuine appreciation for the intricacies of strong bookkeeping and financial administration.
Your day-to-day duties will encompass:
- Payroll processing
- Timesheet and time recording management
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Customer invoicing
- Entering and managing creditor invoices
- Monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Xero files
- Reviewing information flow between construction job management systems and Xero
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies
We seek an individual who not only processes transactions but understands the interconnectedness and importance of financial information.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Is highly organised and takes ownership of their work.
- Possesses exceptional attention to detail.
- Communicates professionally with clients.
- Enjoys problem-solving.
- Understands the operational flow of construction businesses, including jobs, invoices, purchase orders, progress claims, and subcontractors, not just the bookkeeping aspects.
What you'll receive:
- Genuine flexibility in your work arrangements.
- Hours that can be tailored to fit your lifestyle.
- Access to a supportive and collaborative team.
- The opportunity to grow with an expanding advisory firm.
Before applying:
This position requires someone who already possesses a strong understanding of the construction industry and can commence work effectively. If your experience is primarily in retail, hospitality, or other sectors without exposure to construction bookkeeping or construction job management software, this role will not be a suitable fit. However, if you are an experienced construction bookkeeper seeking a role with genuine flexibility and trust in your ability to manage your workload, we encourage you to apply.
