The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller for a 12-month maximum term contract within our Finance team. Reporting to the Credit Team Leader, your responsibilities will include managing customer receivables, fostering strong customer relationships, and ensuring timely collections across a substantial portfolio of commercial and industrial clients. This role is ideal for a proactive and customer-focused credit professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage collections activities and ensure prompt recovery of outstanding debts.
- Negotiate payment arrangements in accordance with company credit policies.
- Maintain and manage a large commercial and industrial receivables ledger, with SME support as required.
- Conduct account reconciliations and investigate payment discrepancies.
- Handle customer enquiries, disputes, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Liaise with internal teams, including Customer Service and Operations, to support seamless customer outcomes.
- Monitor credit risks, identify trends, and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Process administration, liquidation, and debt recovery matters in line with company procedures.
- Support banking and receivables activities as required.
- Provide backup support to the wider Credit team during peak periods.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in credit control and collections.
- Strong accounts receivable and credit management experience.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Experience assessing credit risks for both new and existing accounts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and time management capabilities.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Experience with liquidation, litigation, or insolvency processes.
- Utilities industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
