Defence Field Service Engineer
Kinexus is seeking a Defence Field Service Engineer for a full-time, onsite position in Darwin, NT.
Our client is an Australian engineering and technology organisation that provides innovative capability to the Defence maritime sector. They have a strong pipeline of work supporting new naval platforms and Defence maritime capability and are looking to expand their team in Darwin. This role offers the chance to work with leading-edge Defence technology, focusing on the maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of next-generation maritime platforms. You will be part of a capable engineering team, delivering hands-on technical support in a dynamic environment.
The Opportunity
As a Field Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical and electronic systems.
- Supporting field operations and engineering activities.
- Ensuring critical Defence capability remains operational.
- Contributing to ongoing product and system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced fault finding and root cause analysis across mechanical and electronic systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on Defence maritime platforms and associated equipment.
- Diagnose technical issues using a range of electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support complex troubleshooting activities.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Support field operations, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable, mission-ready capability.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a practical engineer who enjoys hands-on work and solving challenging technical problems.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronic systems.
- Strong fault-finding skills using electronic test equipment and diagnostic equipment.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience improving the reliability and maintainability of operational equipment.
- Hands-on experience building, maintaining, or repairing mechanical and electronic systems.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience within Defence, maritime, naval, aerospace, industrial automation, mining, heavy industry, or other high-reliability engineering environments will be highly regarded.
