Deputy Engineering Manager Kirra Services pty ltd Canberra ACT $175,000 per year full-time onsite

Kirra Services is experiencing significant growth in its capabilities for major government and enterprise clients. We are looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager to join a Federal engagement. This role presents a prime opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects, with an immediate vacancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Engineering Manager in directing engineering activities throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Manage systems engineering functions, encompassing requirements management, integration, interface control, and verification and validation (V&V).
  • Facilitate interoperability between Army and Navy systems in joint and maritime operational settings.
  • Liaise with Defence stakeholders and industry partners to harmonise technical outcomes and address issues.
  • Guarantee adherence to Defence engineering standards, policies, and certification prerequisites.
  • Participate in test planning, trials, and capability acceptance processes.
  • Support the integration of capability into operational environments, including maritime and amphibious contexts.
  • Contribute to governance activities, such as configuration control and engineering design reviews.
  • Ensure engineering activities are aligned with program schedules, milestones, and delivery targets.

Skills & Experience:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Maritime, or a related field).
  • Australian Citizenship.
  • A current NV1 security clearance or the capacity to obtain one.
  • Experience working within the Department of Defence, preferably in Land and/or Maritime domains.
  • A robust understanding of systems engineering lifecycle activities.
  • Highly developed organisational and analytical proficiencies.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across Defence and industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) environment.
  • Exposure to joint capability programs that include both land and maritime systems.
  • Experience in marine or maritime engineering settings.
  • Demonstrated capacity to support complex integration and interoperability challenges.
  • Experience contributing to engineering governance, assurance, and certification activities.
