About the Opportunity We are seeking skilled and experienced Designers/Draftspersons for a 12-month fixed-term contract to join our team on the Hunter Class Frigate Program. These roles are based in our Detail Design Hubs, with opportunities available in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, or Perth. Prior shipbuilding experience is not a prerequisite.

Key Responsibilities As part of our international Detail Design team, you will deliver high-quality spatial integration and production outputs using integrated digital engineering toolsets (e.g., AutoCAD, FORAN, Windchill). These outputs will be utilised by our production workforce and subcontractors for the construction of the Hunter Class Frigates.
Specific responsibilities will vary depending on the role level:
Intermediate Level (2-10 years of any experience):
- Identify and fulfil internal and external customer needs and expectations through consultation and progress reporting to functional and project management.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant Engineering, Drafting, and Quality Management System standards.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical documents, records, and reports in line with function and project requirements.
- Participate in problem-solving teams to improve technical systems and processes within areas of specialisation.
Senior Roles (over 10 years of relatable industry experience, ideally maritime):
- Lead a small team (2-3) of designers in collaborative delivery of allocated outputs.
- Ensure team competency and training in the Hunter Class Frigate Program core engineering digital tools (e.g., FORAN, Windchill, AVEVA ERM).
- Utilise engineering tools for production outputs work on the Hunter Class Frigate Program.
- Support the Detail Design Discipline Lead and act as the delegated Engineering Authority for assigned work and delegation level.
- Manage personal engineering work package elements, including work planning, breakdown, estimation, and scheduling.
About You The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with 2D & 3D CAD software, including AutoCAD or similar packages (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, REVIT).
- Experience as a designer or draftsperson in the maritime, heavy engineering, oil & gas, infrastructure, or building services industries.
- Experience producing shop detail or manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with typical design office quality review processes, including conducting checks and providing feedback on others' work.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
