Director Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance
Airswift is seeking a Director Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance for a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney, NSW. This position offers a salary of $250,000 - $300,000 + Super (Negotiable).
This specialist consultancy is looking for an individual to play a key role in the ongoing expansion of its NSW Division. Reporting to the leadership team, this role will influence the collective leadership, performance, and growth of the Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance (SESA) business, with a specific emphasis on business development, client engagement, and market expansion across various civil infrastructure sectors. While Transport/Rail experience is anticipated to be central, demonstrated success or a keen interest in expanding into adjacent markets such as Energy, Transmission, Water/Utilities, Aviation, and Data Centres is also expected.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of systems engineering and safety assurance services for complex infrastructure projects, employing a comprehensive, end-to-end systems perspective.
- Provide technical direction across systems engineering, integration, requirements management, verification and validation (V&V), and safety assurance. An appreciation of RAM and Human Factors will be highly desirable.
- Collaborate within a leadership team, contributing to the performance, strategy, and growth of the NSW SESA business.
- Drive business development and client engagement, which includes identifying opportunities, leading proposal efforts, and cultivating key accounts to facilitate company expansion into diverse market sectors.
- Support team development through mentoring, capability enhancement, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Manage a small team of direct reports (SESA Engineers).
Required Experience:
- Australian working rights.
- A qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Substantial knowledge of systems engineering frameworks and assurance standards, including ISO 15288 and EN 50126/8/9.
- Familiarity with the INCOSE Framework; CSEP or ASEP certification is preferred.
- A broader appreciation of disciplines such as RAM and Human Factors.
- A proven history of securing work within key infrastructure markets, including Transport, Energy, Transmission, Water/Utilities, Data Centres, and Aviation/Airports.
- Strong skills in proposal development, tendering, and stakeholder engagement, with the capacity to influence at senior levels.
