Disability Support Worker

Cerebral Palsy Alliance is seeking a full-time Disability Support Worker to join their team in Terrey Hills. This is an onsite role.

The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with disabilities, fostering independence and assisting them in achieving their goals while upholding their wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.

About the Clients: Cerebral Palsy Alliance's Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses typically accommodate 4-6 clients. Clients may have a range of disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy and similar conditions. Ages vary from early twenties to elderly, with differing medical needs and behaviours.

Role Overview: As a Disability Support Worker in a CPA SIL home, your focus will be on providing support within a domestic setting. This includes assisting clients with daily living activities such as cooking and mealtimes, as well as household tasks like cleaning. You will also provide personal care with respect and dignity, administer medication, and support client mobility through manual handling and the use of specialised equipment like hoists. The role involves documenting and monitoring client wellbeing, and collaborating with other CPA staff to maintain a supportive team environment.

Shift times will vary depending on availability, including:

  • Early mornings: 6am - 9am
  • Day shifts: 9am - 3pm
  • Afternoons/evenings: 3pm - 6pm/7pm/8pm/9pm
  • Awake overnights (optional): 10pm-6am

Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to person-centred care.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence (minimum P2).
  • Ability to meet the inherent physical requirements of the role.
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • First Aid & CPR.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance will support or reimburse relevant compliance certifications where required.

Training, Development & Progression Opportunities: Cerebral Palsy Alliance is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 91561) offering fully funded nationally recognised qualifications, including CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support. Ongoing specialist training and skill development are provided. CPA encourages internal progression, with pathways to Disability Support Practitioner Level 4 (DSP4) roles, leadership, and management positions. Notably, 80% of CPA's House Managers commenced their careers as Disability Support Workers.
