Disability Support Worker - Day Program

Allevia is seeking a Disability Support Worker to join our Day Program team in Yagoona. In this role, you will support participants to engage in a variety of activities designed to build skills, promote independence, and encourage social participation. Every day presents an opportunity to positively influence an individual's life.

This position involves supporting adults with disabilities to engage in meaningful activities, cultivate life skills, and foster social connections. If you are a reliable, proactive individual with a passion for empowering people with disabilities, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred care and support to individuals living with disabilities.
  • Support participants within a structured day program environment.
  • Assist participants in building life skills, developing independence, and engaging in meaningful social and community activities.
  • Offer respectful, empowering personal care and daily living support, as required.
  • Assist with tasks including cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
  • Support participants to access the community and attend appointments.
  • Adhere to individual support plans and accurately document progress.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in collaboration with the Allevia team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A warm, person-centred approach.
  • Creativity and energy to lead engaging activities.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 weekdays from 9am–3pm, with potential 8am starts depending on participant needs.
  • A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or an equivalent qualification (or currently studying towards one).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A valid NSW Driver’s Licence (P2 Class minimum) and a reliable vehicle with Comprehensive Car Insurance.
  • A Working With Children Check.
  • Valid Australian work rights (demonstrated via Passport, Birth Certificate, or Visa).
