Disability Support Worker - Children & Young People

GSL: A Good Start to Life is seeking Disability Support Workers to support children and young people aged 0–18 with complex physical, intellectual, and mental health needs. This onsite, casual role is based in Bundaberg.

The core purpose of this role is to provide a consistent, trusted presence, offering warmth and assistance in skill-building and confidence development for young people to become valued members of their community.

Responsibilities:

• Provide safe, person-centred care within a therapeutic home environment, adhering to trauma-informed practice and child safety principles.
• Support young people through daily life, learning, and personal growth, following individual plans to foster independence, confidence, and life skills.
• Establish a stable, nurturing environment where young people feel secure and heard.
• Build genuine, trusting relationships through consistency, empathy, and a calm demeanour, acting as a dependable presence.
• Promote community connection and social inclusion for young people.

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and child-safe practice in application.
• Reliability and emotional resilience, particularly when facing challenges.
• Hold or be working towards a Certificate IV in Disability Support, Youth Work, or a related field.
• Possess a Working with Children Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Hold a minimum P2 driver's licence.
• Hold or be willing to apply for an LCS2.

Remuneration:

• CAS Rates starting from $46.70 per hour.
