Disability Support Worker - Casual

Company: MT Services Australia Location: Plympton, SA 5038 & Southern suburbs Work Type: Casual Salary: $34 – $45 per hour Work Setting: Onsite

MT Services Australia is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis. This role is fundamental to delivering high-quality support and care to individuals with disabilities, based in Plympton and the Southern suburbs of SA. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for the people we support, enabling them to live as independently as possible and participate meaningfully in their communities. This position offers the flexibility of casual work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living such as showering, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients in accessing community services, social activities, and recreational opportunities that promote independence and social inclusion.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transportation to medical appointments, shopping, and other essential activities.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of client support provided, including notes on health, wellbeing, and any concerns that arise.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and other support team members to ensure coordinated and person-centred care.
  • Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving their personal goals and aspirations.
  • Respond compassionately to client needs whilst maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to duty of care obligations.
  • Follow all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including those related to safeguarding, privacy, and health and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider support team to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery.

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to promoting their dignity, independence, and choice.
  • Experience working in aged care, disability support, community services, or a related field is highly valued.
  • Understanding of disability-inclusive practices and a person-centred approach to support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and emotional resilience when working with individuals facing complex challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment when providing support.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to assist clients with mobility as required.
  • A current First Aid Certificate is essential.
  • A valid Working With Children Check (or equivalent clearance) and satisfactory police clearance.
  • Reliability and a strong commitment to punctuality and professional conduct.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required for casual positions.
  • A current driving licence and access to reliable transport is desirable.
