Draftsperson
Metallum Fabrication Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced CAD Draftsperson/Designer to become part of our dynamic metal fabrication enterprise. This full-time, onsite role is based in St Marys.
Your primary responsibility will be translating concepts into precise manufacturing drawings. You will collaborate closely with production, estimating, and project management teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality fabrication projects. This position offers a significant opportunity for an individual who derives satisfaction from witnessing their designs manifest in a workshop setting.
Duties:
- Generate detailed workshop and fabrication drawings.
- Develop and revise 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Transform customer-provided drawings into files suitable for production.
- Produce DXF, DWG, STEP, PDF, and CNC-ready files for laser cutting, folding, machining, and fabrication processes.
- Design and develop fabricated components from steel, aluminium, and stainless steel.
- Prepare assembly drawings, exploded views, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Engage with the production team to address fabrication challenges.
- Communicate with customers, engineers, and project managers.
- Verify that drawings comply with Australian Standards and internal quality benchmarks.
- Contribute to enhancements in product and fabrication design.
Requirements:
- Experience as a CAD Draftsperson/Designer.
- Familiarity with a fast-paced metal fabrication business.
- Ability to work closely with production, estimating, and project management.
- Comfortable working in a workshop environment.
- Proficiency in producing detailed workshop and fabrication drawings.
- Skilled in creating and modifying 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Capability to convert customer drawings into production-ready files.
- Experience generating DXF, DWG, STEP, PDF, and CNC-ready files.
- Knowledge of laser cutting, folding, machining, and fabrication.
- Experience designing and developing fabricated steel, aluminium, and stainless steel components.
- Ability to prepare assembly drawings, exploded views, and BOMs.
- Capacity to resolve fabrication issues with production.
- Experience liaising with customers, engineers, and project managers.
- Understanding of Australian Standards and company quality requirements.
- Willingness to assist with product and fabrication design improvements.
