Electrical Engineer

Cape Byron Power is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Broadwater, NSW. This is a full-time, onsite position.

About the Role This role is critical to the maintenance, design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and solutions for our renewable energy operations. As an Electrical Engineer, you will drive innovation and ensure the reliable performance of our electrical infrastructure, contributing to our mission of delivering sustainable power solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, design, and develop electrical systems, components, and solutions in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct electrical calculations, simulations, and analysis to optimise system performance and efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for electrical projects.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical systems to identify and resolve faults.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, technicians, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the site operations teams and technicians.
  • Participate in project planning and contribute to cost and timeline estimations.
  • Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering technology and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licence or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical engineering, preferably in renewable energy, power generation, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design software and CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar applications.
  • Proficiency in electrical codes and standards including AS/NZS 3000 and IEC standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in power systems, circuit design, and electrical distribution.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in team environments.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

What We Offer Cape Byron Power offers competitive remuneration packages commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a salary range of $120,000 – $140,000 per year.
