The Balanced Machines Division at Civmec has secured several machine projects, with design, fabrication, assembly, and testing conducted at our advanced Henderson facility. A robust pipeline of future machine projects is anticipated. We are seeking experienced Electrical Engineers and Senior Electrical Engineers to join this growing team of professional Balanced Machines Engineers. Successful candidates will contribute to a dynamic multi-discipline design and delivery team, working on exciting mining machine projects for our clients. This role encompasses the full project scope, from design through to execution and final completion at client sites across Western Australia. The position is Perth-based, with an optional office location in either the CBD or Henderson.

The Role

This position involves close collaboration with other disciplines and drafting teams, including Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing conceptual and detailed electrical designs for various Balanced Machine types, such as Stackers, Reclaimers, and Shiploaders.
  • Producing Electrical and Instrumentation deliverables, including calculation reports and drawings.
  • Generating equipment specifications and supporting equipment evaluation and procurement during project execution.
  • Defining and recommending design methodologies, specifications, and performance of functional requirements for new projects.
  • Supporting the development of less experienced Electrical and Instrumentation team members.
  • Undertaking occasional site trips (day trips) as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with Safety in Design principles within the E&I domain.
  • Providing engineering support to installation, construction, and commissioning teams.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Progress towards, or attainment of, CPEng Accreditation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the conceptualisation, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed design of automation and control systems for mining equipment.
  • Experience with Low Voltage (LV) design, including proficiency in Power CAD, LV MCC design, and protection and co-ordination studies.
  • Experience in Instrumentation and Automation hardware design.
  • A solid understanding of technical electrical, instrumentation, and control principles relevant to Balanced Machines.
  • The ability to produce technical documentation and communicate discipline requirements to project team members.
  • Experience with EPLAN P8 is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Fundamental knowledge of functional safety concepts and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian standards.
