Electronics Manufacturing Engineer Ampac Pty Ltd Balcatta Full-time, Onsite

Ampac, a global leader in life-saving technology, is seeking an Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis at our facility in the Northern Suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. We specialise in the design, manufacture, and distribution of fire detection and evacuation systems used worldwide.

This role is integral to developing, implementing, and continually enhancing our electronic manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective production. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of electronics manufacturing techniques and a proactive approach to process optimisation and problem-solving, with experience applying Lean Six-Sigma methodologies being preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and improve electronics manufacturing processes.
• Optimise process steps to enhance quality, throughput, and yield.
• Analyse production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide technical troubleshooting support to production.
• Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, including defects, rework drivers, and process deviations.
• Undertake process optimisation for electronics assembly.
• Drive improvements for Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Wave, and Manual Soldering Processes.
• Collaborate closely with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFT).
• Support the introduction of new products (NPI) into manufacturing.
• Prepare programs, stencils, and documentation for New Products.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including quality, supply chain, and production.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies, utilising approaches such as DMAIC, root cause analysis, and data-driven problem solving to reduce waste and defects.
• Document and standardise processes.
• Maintain work instructions, process documentation, and control plans.

Requirements:

• Approximately 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing processes, including:
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work as a team player.
• Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
• Wave soldering, manual soldering, and rework techniques.
• Some knowledge of Lean Six Sigma.
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving capabilities combined with a collaborative, team-driven approach.
• Familiarity with core concepts such as DMAIC, basic statistical thinking, and continuous improvement is preferred.

Desirable Qualifications:

• A degree in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
