Optimising ABilities Pty Ltd is seeking a highly experienced Disability Support Worker for a casual, onsite role in Labrador. The salary is $40 – $45 per hour.

At Optimising Abilities, we focus on active capacity building, employing a "teach-prompt-fade" methodology to support individuals and foster limitless possibilities. We are currently looking for a resilient and skilled Support Worker to join a dedicated team for a specific participant on the Northern Gold Coast.

The Opportunity This role involves providing 1-on-1 support for a participant requiring complex, intuitive, and proactive care. The position is dynamic, demanding an individual who is prepared to take initiative and manage daily challenges with a calm and confident approach.

Key areas of support include:

• Epilepsy & Seizure Management: Requires significant experience and confidence in monitoring, responding to, and documenting seizure activity.
• High Communication Needs: Involves being intuitive and adaptable, utilising alternative communication methods to ensure the participant's voice, choices, and needs are consistently heard and respected.
• Personal Care: Assisting with personal hygiene and daily living routines with the utmost dignity and respect.

Who You Are This is not an entry-level position. The role requires clinical maturity, resilience, and a genuine passion for the disability sector.

You are patient, understanding that trust and rapport are built over time, and are prepared to work through initial rejection or setbacks without taking them personally.

You are proactive, actively seeking ways to contribute to the participant's day, from researching community access options to managing household duties, without waiting for direction.

You are unflappable, maintaining a grounded, objective, and supportive presence when faced with challenging scenarios.

You are a team player, communicating effectively with management and fellow team members to ensure continuity of care.

The Mandatories To be considered for this role and our rapid onboarding pathway, you must possess the following:

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card).
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Valid First Aid & CPR Certificates.
• NDIS Worker Modules.
• Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support / Disability (or relevant equivalent experience).
