About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Experienced Disability Support Worker for a casual, on-site role in Geelong, VIC. This position offers flexibility while providing crucial support to individuals with disability in our community. As an Experienced Disability Support Worker, you will play a key role in delivering excellent, person-centred support, empowering participants to achieve their goals and actively engage in community life. This role requires a candidate with demonstrated experience in disability support, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Providing direct personal care and assistance to participants with disability, including support with daily living activities, mobility, and personal hygiene.
• Supporting participants to access community activities, social engagement, and recreational opportunities aligned with their goals and preferences.
• Assisting with meal preparation, shopping, and household management tasks in accordance with participant support plans.
• Building trusting, respectful relationships with participants, grounded in an understanding of their individual needs and preferences.
• Maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of support provided and participant progress.
• Communicating effectively with participants, families, colleagues, and other service providers to ensure coordinated support.
• Assisting participants with transport to appointments, activities, and community engagements as needed.
• Supporting participants to develop skills and independence where appropriate, promoting self-determination and choice.
• Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, duty of care requirements, and safeguarding standards.
• Contributing to a positive, inclusive team environment and offering support to colleagues.

What We Are Looking For

• Demonstrated experience working as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar support role within community or disability services.
• Knowledge of disability support best practices, person-centred care principles, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with participants from diverse backgrounds.
• Physical capacity to assist participants with personal care and mobility support as required.
• Ability to work flexibly, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing participant needs.
• A commitment to safeguarding principles, confidentiality, and duty of care.
• A reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work.
• Current relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or equivalent) are preferred.
• A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable access to transport are advantageous.
