Experienced Senior Accountant - Flexible Boutique Firm - Ex Big-4 Partner
Lawson Elliott Recruitment is seeking an Experienced Senior Accountant for a full-time, onsite position in Sydney NSW. The salary offered is $115,000 – $145,000 + Super.
This established chartered firm boasts over 30 years of market history. Founded by a Partner with Big-4 and mid-tier experience, the practice aims to blend large-firm expertise with personalised service. The firm provides a complete range of advisory and compliance services, supported by wealth and financial planning.
Clients include multi-generational family groups, established local and national businesses, and high-growth startups, with a notable presence in tech and software. The firm operates with a flat structure, where team members manage their own client portfolios end-to-end, under the Partner’s oversight for client relationships and advisory work. The team experiences high stability, reflecting the work environment.
The firm is looking for a Senior Accountant/Client Manager to join their team. This role involves working with diverse family and business clients, including SMSFs, and managing a client fee portfolio of approximately $300,000 - $400,000. It is suited for individuals who value autonomy and seek both work-life balance and technical growth.
Primary platforms used are Access HandiSoft and Class Super. Familiarity with MYOB, Xero, and Reckon for client work would be advantageous.
Key Duties:
- Resolving tax matters and preparing tax returns.
- Preparing financial accounts for companies, superannuation funds, unit and discretionary trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
- Preparing BAS, IAS, other GST matters, and FBT returns.
- Possessing knowledge of land tax, stamp duty issues, and payroll tax.
- Conducting research in response to client-raised taxation matters.
- Nurturing existing client relationships and liaising with statutory bodies and external service providers.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or CA/CPA/IPA designation.
- Over 5 years of experience in public practice, covering all entity types.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and team-oriented approach to work.
- Experience with SMSF and Class Super is advantageous but not essential.
