Fabrication Advisor

Sedgman Limited is seeking a Fabrication Advisor to join our Brisbane office. This role provides an opportunity to deliver technical procurement services across a range of multi-discipline projects within the Minerals Processing sector, leveraging expertise in a fast-paced consulting environment to develop innovative client solutions.
The responsibilities of this position include planning and managing fabrication contract packages, encompassing logistics and offsite assembly where relevant. This involves selecting appropriate suppliers for fabrication scopes, overseeing progress, quality, packing, and site delivery, and utilising Digital Engineering to enhance project execution.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and administer fabrication, logistics, and offsite assembly activities to align project execution with plans, designs, and specifications.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Manage the bid, evaluation, and award of packages in accordance with the procurement plan and procedures, including preparing Request for Tenders (RFTs), conducting commercial evaluations, coordinating technical evaluations, negotiating, issuing Request for Approvals (RFAs), and executing contracts.
- Administer contracts, which includes facilitating kick-off and progress meetings, expediting contract deliverables, monitoring progress and programs, reporting, resolving Extension of Time (EOT) and variation claims, managing defects, assessing and certifying payment claims, and issuing/responding to formal correspondence and notices via Aconex, along with contract completion and close-out.
- Manage costs for assigned packages, ensuring commitments, costs to date, accruals, and cost forecasts are accurate and current.
- Monitor and report on internally driven changes to the scope of works for all contract packages within a project.
- Monitor and report on procurement activities' progress and program, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure suppliers complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Master Document Registers (MDRs) fully and accurately.
- Review and coordinate timely responses to fabrication and shop detailing Requests for Information (RFIs).
About You:
Qualifications:
- Relevant sub-professional technical qualifications.
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and expediting within a projects or engineering environment.
- Experience in quality control and inspection of heavy equipment, structural steel, and general fabrication.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Commercial contract administration experience.
- Excellent communication skills with strong consultation and influencing abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Desired skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Knowledge of managing budgets or project finance.
- Project reporting experience.
- Competency in Navisworks, including IConstruct experience.
- Familiarity with shop detailing software such as Tekla Structures.
- Ability to review 3D models for fabrication and clash detection.
