Department: Department of Treasury and Finance Location: Adelaide SA Work Type: Full-time Work Setting: Onsite Salary: $66,442 – $69,504 per year

The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) is establishing a recruitment pool for Finance and Payroll Officers. This pool will be utilised to fill roles across Payroll, Taxation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Customer Service functions. Positions are available at our Adelaide CBD and Port Adelaide locations.

About Shared Services SA (SSSA): Shared Services SA (SSSA) provides essential payroll, finance, taxation, and business system services to South Australian Government agencies. By delivering reliable services in payroll, accounts payable and receivable, taxation, financial accounting, and work injury management, SSSA allows agencies to concentrate on delivering community outcomes. SSSA is committed to providing timely, accurate, and contemporary services, underpinned by strong customer service and a focus on quality.

About the Opportunity: This recruitment pool will be used to fill temporary roles in the following areas:

  • Payroll
  • Taxation
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Customer Service and client support

These roles are vital for ensuring accurate processing, timely payments, and high-quality service to government agencies, employees, and external stakeholders. You will operate in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where accuracy is paramount and some tasks may be repetitive. Success requires resilience, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Suitable applicants will be invited to an assessment centre to evaluate their skills and suitability for Shared Services roles. Successful applicants will be placed in a merit pool for a 12-month period to fill vacancies within Shared Services.

Remuneration: ASO2 ($66,442 - $69,504 p.a.) plus 12% Superannuation.

What You Will Do: Depending on the specific role and team, your responsibilities may include:

  • Responding to customer enquiries via phone, email, and shared inboxes.
  • Processing payroll, taxation, and financial transactions in accordance with legislation and policy.
  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including reconciliations.
  • Entering and maintaining information within corporate systems.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies according to established procedures.
  • Collaborating within a structured, process-driven environment.
  • Handling high-volume tasks with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency.
  • Managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.

What You Bring: We are looking for individuals with a strong combination of customer service skills, attention to detail, and process discipline.

  • An interest in payroll, finance, administration, or customer service, coupled with a willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new skills.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to resolve problems with empathy and professionalism.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confidence in using systems and learning new tools.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Comfort working with structured processes and repetitive tasks.

Experience in all areas is not required; transferable skills and capability are valued.
