We are seeking a Finance Business Partner - Capital for a 12-month maternity leave contract with Total Tools Hardware Group (TTHG). In this role, you will directly influence how the business allocates millions of dollars annually. You will partner with senior leaders to shape decisions regarding significant capital investments, including store development, major projects, and technology initiatives. Your responsibilities will include challenging assumptions, verifying the viability of business cases, and ensuring every expenditure yields a strong return. This position is based at our Heatherton support office, with a requirement to commute to our Port Melbourne office once per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business leaders across our tools and hardware divisions to guide capital investment decisions.
- Manage the end-to-end business case process for capital expenditure, encompassing stores, projects, and IT investments.
- Support and coordinate investment committee processes, ensuring all submissions adhere to governance requirements.
- Maintain and track the capital projects register, monitoring expenditure against budget for a substantial portfolio.
- Provide clear financial insights into capital performance, identifying risks, variances, and opportunities.
- Challenge assumptions and ensure business cases are commercially and financially sound.
- Collaborate closely with our parent company, Metcash, on reporting, serving as a key liaison between group and TTHG.
- Support IT capital reporting and partner with technology teams on major transformation initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
- CA or CPA qualification with a robust accounting foundation.
- Experience in finance business partnering, FP&A, or commercial finance roles.
- Proven experience with capital projects, investment governance, or managing large-scale capex spend.
- Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to assess business cases (e.g., Capex vs. Opex).
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Experience operating within complex environments with numerous concurrent projects.
- Strong attention to detail and an understanding of governance and approval processes.
