Finance Business Partner
Merri-bek City Council is seeking a Finance Business Partner for a full-time permanent position, working 38 hours per week, based in Coburg. This role offers hybrid working arrangements and includes a Monthly RDO.
The salary for this position is $102k - $111k plus Superannuation.

About the Role: Merri-bek City Council has an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join its Finance team. This key role will provide financial services support and advice across the organisation. The Finance Business Partner will cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial analysis, advice, and support to aid management decision-making. A core focus will be adding value and insight through business partnering with managers and budget owners.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering accurate and timely financial information.
- Assisting with the preparation of the 4-year budget and forecast.
- Ensuring branches receive necessary support and information for effective decision-making.
- Playing a key role in financial system maintenance.
- Preparing internal and external reporting.
- Collaborating to develop strong partnerships and create value through insightful analysis.
- Communicating effectively with both financial and non-financial individuals.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting).
- Completion of or working towards completion of CPA or CA.
- 1-3+ years of business partnering, management accounting, or other relevant experience.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to comfortably interact with management and executives.
- An effective team player, with the ability to work cooperatively and positively in a small team dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- A strong commitment to customer service.
- Excellent understanding of the Australian Accounting Standards.
- Ability to transfer accounting and financial knowledge to non-accounting managers and team leaders.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to gain co-operation and assistance from internal and external customers and deal with difficult customers in a calm and professional manner.
- Previous experience in a high activity role with excellent interpersonal communication, email, and written skills will be well regarded, alongside a strong commitment to customer service and attention to detail.
