The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this newly established position is responsible for the entire finance data and reporting function. While we utilise a modern ERP, its native reporting capabilities are insufficient. The core value lies in extracting, reconciling, modelling, and presenting data to decision-makers. Your role will transform complex, multi-entity data into governed, single-source-of-truth reporting and forecasting that our finance and operations teams can depend on.

You will not be starting from scratch. You will collaborate with a Financial Controller who understands your domain, a finance team specifically augmented to work alongside you, and a retained implementation partner managing the deep technical ERP configuration. This allows you to concentrate on data, modelling, and reporting. We are committed to ongoing development, with forecasting models currently being rolled out and a clear future roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extracting substantial volumes of transactional data from the ERP back end, followed by reconciliation and validation to ensure data integrity.
• Designing and constructing governed, single-source-of-truth reporting within Power BI.
• Developing forecasting, budgeting, and scenario models, and deploying them across finance and operations teams.
• Creating bespoke reporting solutions in Excel and web-based platforms to overcome the limitations of native ERP reporting.
• Managing the mapping and data structures that underpin consolidated, multi-entity reporting.
• Collaborating with the Financial Controller and finance team to translate business inquiries into actionable reporting.
• Overseeing the retained ERP implementation partner to ensure specialised technical work is delivered.
• Enhancing process efficiency and data transparency to expedite month-end close and decision-making.
• Contributing to the shaping of the finance systems roadmap and the future direction of the data environment.
• Structuring an evolving environment, which may include potential changes to underlying systems.

About You

You are fundamentally a data professional with a strong understanding of finance. When faced with a balancing issue, you are the one who can delve into the back end, identify the root cause, and provide a solution. Your strengths lie in Power BI and data modelling, complemented by sufficient accounting knowledge to recognise sound financial practices, even if you are not the most technically specialised accountant. Skills & Experience

To excel in this role, you will likely possess:

• Strong Power BI and data modelling capabilities, with a proven ability to transform large, complex datasets into trusted reports.
• Experience extracting and reconciling data from an ERP back end. Dynamics 365 experience is well regarded, though the core data skills are paramount over the specific platform.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including Power Query and Power Pivot, and the ability to build custom reporting solutions beyond native ERP tools.
• A solid foundation in finance and accounting, enabling you to interpret financial data and understand its implications.
• Communication skills to effectively collaborate with the finance team and articulate technical data work in clear business terms.
• A degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications are well regarded but not essential.
