Finance Manager
Bentley Recruitment is seeking a full-time Finance Manager to join a well-established commercial and civil legal firm in Brisbane, QLD. This onsite role offers a salary of $110,000 plus super.
This is an opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function for a firm with a turnover of approximately $12 million and 30 staff. You will be responsible for overseeing and reporting on the financial health of the business. Experience with trust accounting and the legal industry would be beneficial. This is a hands-on role requiring autonomy and the ability to manage cash flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage cash flow, day-to-day finance, and accounting functions.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasts, daily cash flow, and reporting.
- Provide financial insights, advice, and recommendations to the COO.
- Manage the month-end process, including inter-company transactions, consolidated management reports, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations (BAS, IAS, Superannuation, Payroll Tax).
- Collaborate with the external accountant on technical issues and project tasks.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, adhering to tax, super, and other legislative requirements.
- Develop internal control and accounting/procedure policies.
Required Aptitudes:
- A self-starter capable of up-skilling to gain necessary knowledge.
- Highly personable with first-class communication skills for dealing with various stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of trust accounting.
- Strong foundation in financial reporting knowledge of AASB.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- High energy and a strong work ethic.
Desired Aptitudes:
- 3+ years of experience as a Financial Accountant.
- CA or CPA qualification is highly regarded.
- Experience preparing financial statements requiring a statutory audit.
- Experience with Xero accounting software.
- Experience with Leap is ideal but not mandatory.
- Advanced Excel skills.
