Financial Accountant
Allura Partners is seeking a full-time Financial Accountant to join their team in Alexandria. This is an onsite role.
Reporting to: Senior Financial Accountant
Role Purpose: This position supports the Senior Financial Accountant in the accurate and timely completion of financial reporting, adhering to IFRS and the Corporations Act. The role also involves enhancing finance procedures, establishing effective internal controls, and ensuring the prompt lodgement of all tax returns. A key aspect of this role is the proactive identification of opportunities to improve processes and controls, contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Statutory Accounts / Technical Accounting
- Assist in the preparation of annual and half-yearly financial reports and other ASIC or ASX reporting obligations.
- Support the Senior Financial Accountant in efficient, effective, and timely half-yearly and year-end reporting processes, including engagement with external auditors.
- Verify and validate external reports such as ASX results announcements and investor presentations.
- Provide technical accounting advice and prepare accounting papers to substantiate key accounting positions and judgments regarding financial results.
- Month-End Reporting
- Contribute to an efficient, effective, and timely month-end process through the preparation of month-end workbooks and the processing of journal entries.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare management reports and budget variance analysis, including commentary, for the CFO.
- Identify and implement improvements to month-end workpapers and other finance processes.
- Tax and Statutory Requirements
- Assist in the preparation of BAS, income tax, and FBT returns, along with other required ATO documents.
- Liaise with external tax consultants.
- Assist in implementing tax controls aligned with tax governance documentation.
- Prepare documents requested by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
- Process Payment Times Reporting.
- Process and Controls Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to internal controls, including automated SAP controls.
- Actively collaborate and maintain strong working relationships within the Finance team and with key stakeholders across the business.
- Assist in managing the group insurance program.
- Contribute to setting and achieving the finance team's periodic OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
- Undertake other projects and ad-hoc tasks as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Tertiary degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- Background from a Big 4 or second-tier accounting firm.
- CA or CPA qualified, or in the final stages of qualification.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS / AASB.
- Current commercial and ASX reporting experience, including GPFS, will be well regarded.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in SAP B1, SQL, and BigQuery will be beneficial.
- Willingness to learn and apply AI tools in process improvement and analytics.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
