Financial Accountant BAE Systems Adelaide SA Full-time, Hybrid

Role Description This role offers a significant opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include ensuring the precise accounting and reporting of financial transactions. You will also support the implementation of Central Finance functional strategies, embed financial controls and processes to meet governance requirements, and contribute to process and system improvements.
Core Duties
- Manage the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring timely completion and adherence to policy.
- Maintain and control the general ledger, including the chart of accounts, company structure, and reporting.
- Oversee all labour accounting processes, including labour distribution, central labour journals, and month-end tasks.
- Prepare and manage payroll and labour costing reconciliations, ensuring accurate labour costing reporting across the business.
- Manage the forecasting and budgeting for Leave True-up.
- Oversee month-end processes for the General Ledger, ensuring all journals are processed, modules are balanced and closed according to the month-end timetable, and compliance/governance aligns with Company Policies and Procedures. Assist in managing the internal audit (FCFA) for the General Ledger.
- Liaise with various functions and business units regarding General Ledger and Labour Accounting activities.
- Support the Senior Financial Accountant with internal and external auditors, addressing queries at mid-year and year-end.
- Oversee the preparation of ABS surveys and ensure timely submission.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all stakeholders in a professional and prompt manner.
- Undertake any additional ad-hoc tasks as directed.
About You
- Possess a degree qualification in a relevant field.
- Hold a CA or CPA qualification.
- Have previous experience in financial accounting and business partnering within medium to large corporate environments.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work efficiently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrate experience in partnering with financial and non-financial staff to achieve business outcomes.
- Possess up-to-date and expert knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Have advanced skills in Excel, intermediate skills in Word and PowerPoint, and the ability to use integrated financial/ERP systems effectively.
- Hold a defence security clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
