Financial Accountant - Fixed Assets
Sharp & Carter South East Melbourne is seeking a Financial Accountant - Fixed Assets for a contract role. This position is based remotely, covering the Bayside & South Eastern Suburbs. The role reports to the Finance Manager.

The Role In this key position, you will manage critical financial processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in fixed asset management and related reporting. Responsibilities include:
- Daily management and upkeep of the fixed asset register, including asset classes and effective lives.
- Oversight of asset additions, disposals, and WIP account schedules.
- Collaboration with the Property team on allocations for new store developments.
- Preparation of general journals, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigation of ledger balances and reconciliation of items for resolution.
- Support for audits, statutory inquiries, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Driving improvements in processes and systems to boost operational efficiency.
The Candidate You hold CA or CPA qualifications and ideally possess 3 to 5 years of experience, preferably within the FMCG or retail sectors. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills allow you to build effective professional relationships. You have excellent time management abilities, enabling you to manage multiple tasks proficiently, and a positive approach that allows you to confidently address challenges, including implementing process enhancements.
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, or a related field, along with CA/CPA qualifications.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with fixed assets in-house within a fast-paced setting.
- Solid technical accounting skills, with a focus on fixed assets (PPE).
- Proficiency in reconciliation processes, financial analysis, and advanced Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
