Financial Accountant
Sharp & Carter Finance and Accounting is seeking a full-time Financial Accountant to join a large, successful, privately owned Australian organisation. This role is based in Melbourne VIC, with a salary of $110,000 Plus Superannuation, and operates on a hybrid work model.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be instrumental in maintaining balance sheet integrity, fulfilling compliance obligations, and delivering precise and timely financial reports. This position is well-suited for an individual who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, delving into details, investigating issues, and actively driving improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and ensure balance sheet integrity.
- Prepare and reconcile BAS and GST reporting requirements.
- Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items and historical account discrepancies.
- Support month-end reporting and provide assistance to the broader finance team during peak periods.
- Review work prepared by junior team members and offer guidance as needed.
- Prepare and analyse quarter-end reporting.
- Analyse and report on fortnightly temporary recruitment revenue results.
- Prepare monthly flash reporting and management reports.
- Maintain and update information within Sage.
- Support audit requirements and compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
- Undertake ad hoc financial analysis and project work.
About You:
To excel in this role, you will be a technically proficient accountant who enjoys problem-solving and taking ownership. Ideally, you will possess:
- A CA/CPA qualification (or be working towards completion).
- Strong reconciliation experience and an understanding of balance sheet integrity.
- Sound knowledge of GST, BAS preparation, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- The confidence to independently investigate issues and work through complex transactions.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
