Varley Transport, a prominent Western Australian transport and logistics group with a 40-year legacy, is seeking a commercially focused Financial Controller to join its leadership team. The company is recognised for its service, reliability, safety, and enduring customer relationships.

As the business expands, this role is crucial for supporting operational, financial, and strategic excellence across various divisions. While technical financial expertise is valued, cultural alignment is equally important. The ideal candidate will demonstrate humility, integrity, accountability, initiative, and a commitment to supporting colleagues and customers. This is a unique chance to undertake senior finance leadership within a successful, growing family-owned business while enjoying genuine workplace flexibility.

About the Role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, payroll governance, controls, compliance, and operational financial performance across multiple business divisions. This position extends beyond traditional financial accounting, offering the opportunity to collaborate with operational leaders to enhance profitability, strengthen decision-making, support strategic initiatives, and drive continuous business improvement.

This is a permanent, part-time leadership position, approximately 19 hours per week (0.5 FTE). The specific working arrangement will be negotiated with the successful candidate, balancing flexibility with necessary support during key reporting, budgeting, audit, and planning periods. The Financial Controller will be an integral part of the leadership team, expected to maintain strong organisational visibility and drive financial discipline, accountability, and commercial performance. A key measure of success will be the consistent delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial information, supported by exceptional attention to detail, enabling informed operational and strategic decisions.
