The Role This is initially a contract role concluding in November. The position requires an individual who can assess the team structure and tasks, and guide the team through the critical budgeting period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, providing leadership and support to the finance team. Reviewing the delegation of these tasks for optimal team effectiveness is also desired.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journals, and financial reporting.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and monitor budgets across the school.
• Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial analysis to inform decision-making.
• Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, taxation, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Partner with senior leadership to offer commercial and financial insights that support the school's strategic objectives.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and other key stakeholders as required.
• Contribute to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organisation.

Your Background The client is seeking candidates who:

• Are CA or CPA qualified. Individuals with strong school industry experience who are not qualified are encouraged to apply.
• Are currently holding a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or similar role.
• Previous experience within a school environment is highly preferred. General education sector experience will be strongly considered.
• Applications may also be considered from candidates without direct schools industry experience but who have worked in other highly regulated, people-focused industries, such as aged care or government.
• Can commit to the role from July to November as a minimum duration.
