About the Opportunity Join our Wealth & Capital Markets team as a Fund Accountant, where you will support the accounting and finance operations for our Friendly Society Benefit Funds. Reporting to the Manager, Investment Bond Accounting, you will be instrumental in maintaining strong financial control, supporting daily fund operations, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This involves direct involvement in reconciliations, unit pricing support, and resolving exceptions.
You will contribute to maintaining robust systems and procedures that underpin effective financial control, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient, high-quality fund operations. Working closely with custodians, auditors, and registry providers, you will help ensure smooth and compliant day-to-day operations.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing daily bank and general ledger reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
- Supporting unit pricing processes, including reconciliation and cash break resolution.
- Verifying management fees and rebate calculations prepared by custodians.
- Assisting with regulatory reporting.
- Supporting half-year and year-end processes, including audit requests and fee disclosures.
- Liaising with custodians, banks, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives and automation projects.
- Maintaining strong controls, documentation, and compliance with relevant obligations.
About You You are a detail-oriented finance professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborative work. You possess a positive, proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and a "can-do" attitude that enables effective stakeholder relationships. You are solutions-focused and organised, capable of investigating and resolving reconciliation items while upholding a high standard of accuracy.
You will bring:
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce.
- 3+ years of experience in fund accounting or a similar role.
- Strong Excel skills and solid reconciliation experience.
- Proven ability to investigate and clear outstanding reconciliation items in a timely manner.
- A strong commitment to meeting daily deadlines and operational timelines.
- High attention to detail with a solutions-oriented approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
Experience within a Friendly Society or a similar environment will be highly regarded.
