We are expanding and have an exciting Fund Accountant opportunity in our Melbourne office.
About the Role
As a Fund Accountant, your responsibilities will include preparing timely and accurate financial reports for various funds, reconciling investment transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting with annual audits and tax returns. Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for a range of funds, including NAV calculations, fund NAV packs, and performance reporting.
- Reconcile investment transactions and ensure accurate recording of fund activity within the fund accounting system.
- Post journals and process accounting transactions to support accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and accounting standards within a fund accounting environment.
- Support annual financial statement audits and liaise with external auditors throughout the process.
- Assist with fund distribution calculations, annual income tax calculations, and coordinate with external tax accountants for lodgements.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) in an ATO lodgement-ready format for review and final submission by senior team members.
- Manage accounts payable preparation, including drafting payment instructions and preparing reports for approval.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline fund accounting processes.
- Collaborate closely with the broader team to ensure work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and within required timeframes.
Skills & Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed CPA or CA qualification.
- 0–2+ years’ experience in fund accounting, with exposure to FIS systems (IAM and PCS/Investran) or similar fund accounting platforms highly regarded.
- Knowledge or exposure to the end-to-end NAV preparation cycle, BAS preparation, and financial statement preparation.
- Understanding of ASX reporting requirements and exposure to ASX-listed and unlisted funds.
- Experience building client relationships and delivering high-quality service outcomes.
- Proficiency in fund accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
