General Manager - Engineering (Urban Development + Subdivision)

Bayside Group is seeking a General Manager - Engineering to join their Brisbane QLD team. This full-time, onsite role offers a salary of $190,000 - $210,000 plus Super.

This position presents a significant opportunity for a Principal Engineer or Associate Director ready for expanded team leadership and a General Manager capacity. It is well-suited for individuals transitioning from senior technical or associate leadership roles into comprehensive operational, commercial, and strategic oversight within a growing engineering services organisation. A robust background in urban development and subdivision engineering is essential, as this expertise forms the core of the business and this leadership function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage engineering and technical teams engaged in urban development and subdivision projects.
• Oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring adherence to time, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
• Drive commercial performance, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, work-in-progress management, and financial reporting.
• Approve and support fee proposals, contract negotiations, and client engagement strategies.
• Provide technical leadership across planning, design coordination, and project execution phases.
• Ensure efficient resource planning and utilisation across project teams.
• Monitor project schedules and proactively manage delivery risks and scope modifications.
• Cultivate strong relationships with councils, developers, contractors, and key clients.
• Lead business development initiatives and contribute to the expansion of the urban development portfolio.
• Mentor and develop senior and emerging leaders within the organisation.
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice delivery standards.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

• Well-established experience in urban development/land development engineering within SEQ (essential).
• A background in Civil Engineering, surveying, or town planning within development environments.
• Proven leadership experience in a management role (10+ years preferred).
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financial and business performance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive performance whilst maintaining culture.
• Strong client relationship management and business development capability.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a delivery-focused consulting environment.
• Professional memberships are highly regarded.
