Graduate Project Engineer
Company: Jord International Pty Ltd Location: St Leonards Work Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: Onsite
Launch your engineering career by contributing to world-class mining, energy, and oil and gas projects. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers and senior engineers who will mentor your development. Gain hands-on experience across the complete project lifecycle, from concept and design through to manufacturing, commissioning, and client handover. Join a growing international engineering company with opportunities to work across Australia, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
At Jord, we seek curious engineers eager to learn, rather than those who possess all knowledge from the outset. As a Graduate Project Engineer, you will be immersed in real projects from the beginning, collaborating with experienced engineers to develop your technical and commercial skills. You will gain exposure to engineering design, procurement, manufacturing, quality, project management, client interaction, and site commissioning, providing a foundation few graduate roles offer.
Each project presents unique challenges. You might spend one week reviewing engineering drawings and engaging with suppliers, and the next week involved in project planning, visiting fabrication workshops, or supporting commissioning activities on site. You will rapidly develop an understanding of how large-scale engineering projects are delivered from inception to completion.
What You Will Learn: During your graduate journey, you will acquire practical experience in:
- Engineering design coordination and technical documentation
- Project planning, scheduling, and risk management
- Procurement and supplier management
- Manufacturing and quality assurance processes
- Client communication and stakeholder management
- Commercial awareness and project financials
- Site commissioning and project delivery
- Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Your Responsibilities: Working alongside experienced Project Managers, you will:
- Support the delivery of engineering projects from award through to completion.
- Assist with project planning and execution activities.
- Coordinate engineering documentation and technical submissions.
- Work with suppliers to obtain quotations and manage procurement activities.
- Support project reporting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Liaise with engineers, fabricators, suppliers, and clients.
- Assist with quality, manufacturing, and commissioning activities.
- Continuously develop your technical and commercial capability.
About You: We are looking for an individual excited to build a career in engineering. You will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Curiosity about how complex engineering projects are realised.
- A collaborative attitude and a desire to work as part of a high-performing team.
Previous engineering internships, practical mechanical experience, or involvement in engineering projects at university will be highly regarded but are not essential.
Why Start Your Career at Jord? Unlike many graduate programs focused on a single project component, at Jord, you will gain exposure to the entire engineering lifecycle. You will work alongside experienced industry professionals on technically challenging projects for some of the world's leading mining, energy, and oil and gas companies. We believe the most effective way to develop engineers is by granting them real responsibility, practical experience, and strong mentorship from day one. As your skills advance, so will your opportunities. Many of our engineers have progressed into Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, and Project Manager roles, leading major international projects and collaborating with clients globally.
