HorizonOne Recruitment is seeking a Group Manager Commercial Services Retail for a full-time, onsite position in Canberra ACT. This role offers a total remuneration package of $250k – $280k.

The Opportunity Reporting directly to the CFO, with a functional line to the head of the retail business, this role involves leading a team responsible for billing, credit and affordability, planning and analysis, and financial control. You will exert considerable influence across the wider organisation.

This position is situated at the nexus of commercial strategy, customer outcomes, and operational performance. Your responsibilities will include shaping pricing input, contributing to regulatory submissions, and driving long-term commercial planning, while remaining hands-on with the team and engaged in day-to-day retail operations. Regular engagement at Executive and Board levels marks this as a high-profile position for a leader seeking both strategic scope and operational impact.

The Role Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing four direct reports across billing, credit and affordability, planning and analysis, and financial control.
• Driving commercial and financial leadership across strategy, operations, performance, and investment.
• Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and trend analysis, with regular engagement at Executive and Board level.
• Providing input into pricing strategy and supporting regulatory submissions in collaboration with specialist teams.
• Evaluating business cases and investments with robust financial analysis and clear recommendations.
• Managing billing, cash collection, credit, and debtor systems with a focus on accuracy and control.
• Providing commercial insight on customer affordability, vulnerable customers, and sustainable pricing decisions.
• Acting as Contract Manager for a key external customer services agreement.
• Driving continuous improvement in commercial systems, data quality, and reporting integrity.
• Working collaboratively across retail, corporate, pricing, regulatory, and customer functions.

The Ideal Person You are a commercially astute, hands-on leader adept at transitioning between strategy and execution. You possess substantial depth in financial management, excel at team development, and thrive in complex, dynamic environments.

You will demonstrate:

• Senior commercial finance experience within a retail, utility, regulated, or comparable sector.
• Strong financial acumen encompassing planning, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial decision-making.
• Proven people leadership skills in building capability, driving performance, and fostering engaged, high-functioning teams.
• Confidence in engaging at Executive and Board level, supported by strong communication and influencing skills.
• Exposure to billing, credit management, or revenue functions is advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related discipline.

Salary / Rate $250k – $280k total remuneration package (negotiable based on experience). Free on-site parking.
