Head of Finance - Savage Interactive Pty Ltd

Savage Interactive Pty Ltd is seeking a Head of Finance to direct its finance function, providing the business with precise, timely financial insights. This role involves responsibility for reporting, compliance, and financial operations, ensuring complete visibility of the company's financial standing. The position blends leadership, operational finance, and strategic input, supporting informed decision-making and a stable financial base as Procreate expands.

The Role

This position is part of the corporate team and reports to the CFO. The Head of Finance will lead the Finance team, managing financial reporting, compliance, accounting operations, and internal governance. The role requires providing strategic and day-to-day guidance to ensure robust and reliable financial processes aligned with business needs. Collaboration with the Executive team is key for transparency and insight, alongside supporting the team's effectiveness and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Finance team, offering clear direction, guidance, and operational oversight.
  • Contribute to a consistent Procreate culture and cultivate a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate, timely, and meets business requirements.
  • Deliver monthly reporting against budget and offer insights to aid decision-making.
  • Prepare financial statements and annual reports.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations, and reporting standards.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, the ATO, ASIC, and banking partners.
  • Approve Accounts Payable payments and oversee cashflow and banking activities.
  • Address accounting and taxation issues, proposing solutions as needed.
  • Oversee financial systems, including Xero, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency, cost management, and process enhancement.
  • Support the development and delivery of the annual budget in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain internal financial policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure financial processes align with audit requirements and best practice standards.
  • Assist teams across the business in understanding and adhering to financial policies and processes.

Required Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, with CA or CPA certification and current CPD.
  • Significant experience in a financial leadership role within a business setting.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including statutory and consolidated reporting.
  • A solid understanding of Australian taxation rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience delivering clear, accurate financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with financial systems including Xero, and strong Excel capability.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A structured, methodical approach to problem-solving and financial management.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with payroll systems such as Keypay and reporting tools such as Spotlight.
  • Experience working in a growing technology or product-led business.
  • A strong track record of improving financial processes and internal controls.
  • Experience partnering closely with executive teams in strategic planning.

What to expect in the first 6–12 months:

  • Complete the Procreate onboarding process and familiarise yourself with colleagues.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our financial systems, processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Establish clear visibility across financial operations and reporting.
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and compliance processes.
  • Contribute to budgeting, planning, and financial strategy discussions.
  • Provide consistent, reliable reporting to support executive decision-making.
