Right at Home Darling Downs delivers a spectrum of care services designed to support individuals living independently in their homes. We champion person-centred care and aim to lead by example through exceptional communication and service. With a current team of over 80 members, we are seeking new individuals to contribute to our expanding presence in the community.

Job Description

Exciting openings exist within our team for Disability Support Workers. This role involves providing in-home support to clients and NDIS participants who are living with complex mental health and other health concerns. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, caring, compassionate, and respectful, capable of performing personal care and domestic duties.

This position is initially offered on a casual basis. The potential for a Permanent Part-Time role may arise, contingent on performance.

Requirements:

  • Possess an Individual Support (Disability) Certificate III or higher.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities requiring support, particularly those with mental health issues.
  • Previous skills and qualifications in medication assistance and/or administration, specifically HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication.
  • Demonstrated understanding of incident reporting, quality documentation, complaints handling, and strategic support for complex behaviours.
  • Good roster availability.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Ownership of a vehicle with comprehensive insurance, and a willingness to use it for work purposes.
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Open Driver's Licence.
  • Current Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Card.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination.

Highly Recommended:

  • Assist Client with Medication Certificate HLTHPS 006 Certificate.

Advantageous:

  • Experience with clients with Dementia.
  • Experience with Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Experience with Epilepsy.

Mandatory Training:

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • NDIS Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Work with male and female NDIS participants who have a range of mental disabilities.
  • Support and mentor participants to enhance their independence.
  • Assist participants in engaging with community-based activities.
  • Model and encourage appropriate social behaviours as needed.
