Job Description

House Manager - Welcome Home Springwood

Company: SILC (Supporting Independent Living Co-operative) Location: Springwood, Blue Mountains, NSW Work Type: Part-time, Onsite

About SILC: SILC is a not-for-profit cooperative and an NDIS registered provider of supported independent living services. We operate on the principle that individuals with disabilities, in conjunction with their families, are best positioned to determine their living arrangements, housemates, and support providers. Our function is to assist families in establishing cooperatives that manage family-governed homes for their family members.

About This Role: We are seeking a House Manager to oversee and lead the operations of Welcome Home Springwood, a service providing accommodation support for two young adults with complex support needs. In this capacity, you will guide a team of support workers to address resident requirements and ensure the efficient functioning of the home.

The role involves 10 hours per week dedicated to practice leadership and administration, complemented by a minimum of 3 direct support shifts weekly. Additional shifts may be available based on roster requirements.

What We Offer:

  • Engaging work within a small, family-governed home where the impact of your support is evident weekly.
  • A predictable weekly schedule combining administration and practice leadership with hands-on shifts, with the capacity to increase hours when roster demands it.
  • The support of SILC's central team, which manages HR, payroll, rostering, and compliance, allowing you to concentrate on residents and your team.
  • Income from face-to-face shifts in addition to your 10 paid administrative hours.
  • 12% superannuation and 5 weeks of annual leave.
  • Salary packaging opportunities up to $15,899.
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and access to the Employee Assistance Program.

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 + super (subject to roster and additional shifts)

About Welcome Home Springwood:

  • Vision: To foster a world where individuals with disability experience safety and familiarity through stable, quality accommodation with chosen housemates of mixed abilities, support staff they select, and in locations that promote community access. We aim for them to be connected and growing through meaningful friendships and belonging to healthy disciple-making churches, and to be celebrated and loved by being surrounded by friends.
  • Mission: As a Cooperative within SILC, our mission is to cultivate a positive, sustainable home and life experience for our residents and potential future residents.
  • Values: Welcome Home Springwood is guided by six core values:
  • Being: Valuing each member for their inherent worth.
  • Becoming: Valuing each member's growth and development.
  • Believing: Valuing the spiritual life of each member.
  • Belonging: Valuing relationships that create a sense of absence when a member is not present.
  • Blessing: Valuing the capacity of each member to positively impact others.
  • Being Blessed: Valuing reciprocal relationships where each member can experience gifts and appreciation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and embed NDIS values into organisational culture and practice.
  • Develop and maintain consistent, high-quality practice across all operational areas.
  • Be actively present in the home environment to guide and develop the support team.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the house.
  • Provide direct support to residents, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Monitor and report on residents' physical and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Manage staff rostering to align worker capabilities with resident needs and preferences.
  • Foster a learning culture through debriefing, coaching, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Implement systems to support health and manage risk.
  • Apply principles of positive behaviour support when executing behaviour support plans.

Supporting Residents in Their Chosen Lifestyle: Applicants from all faith backgrounds and belief systems are welcome. The primary requirement is the capacity to provide respectful, person-centred support that empowers residents to live in alignment with their own values and preferences.

Residents at Welcome Home Springwood have chosen to live in accordance with Christian values and practices as part of their self-directed living goals. As part of person-centred support, the House Manager will respectfully support residents' daily routines, which include prayer before meals and Bible reading. This role will also facilitate participation in activities important to them, such as church attendance and engagement with Christian community, and liaise with service providers supporting residents' goals, including the Chaplaincy services offered by Our Place Christian Communities (ourplacecc.org.au).

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting adults with intellectual disability or within the disability sector.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Experience with roster and budget management.
  • Consistent weekly availability.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
  • A strong understanding of person-centred approaches.

Application Instructions: Applications must include a cover letter addressing the questions provided. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be accepted. AI-generated cover letters are discouraged; we wish to receive your personal input.
