What You'll Do

As a Lead Engineer, Water within our Transport, Water, Environment and Land team in Perth, you will contribute to projects and programs that effect genuine change. You will join a team that embraces challenges, welcomes diverse ideas, and engineers solutions with both people and outcomes at the forefront.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the development of water and civil designs for complex multi-disciplinary water projects, encompassing concept design, detailed design, and construction/commissioning support.
• Contributing to strategic and conceptual planning investigations to identify innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Planning, designing, and coordinating overland piping systems for water and wastewater, pump stations, water distribution networks, and treatment plants.
• Performing civil design for infrastructure, including earthworks, concrete structures, access roads, and drainage systems, as enablers for water infrastructure designs.
• Overseeing the development of hydraulics and water balance calculations and models.
• Overseeing the preparation of detailed drawings, models, and specifications using design tools such as Water Gems, Sewer GEMS, Civil 3D, 12D, Open plant, AutoCAD, QGIS, and Microstation.
• Coordinating and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., mechanical, process, electrical, structural) to ensure integrated and constructible designs, contributing to cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
• Working within study and project teams to establish and meet scope requirements, ensuring time and budget objectives are achieved.
• Engaging and building positive relationships with existing and potential clients and stakeholders, supporting business development and tenders to secure and deliver work for Aurecon.
• Producing written reports, documents, and presentations to articulate engineering ideas and concepts.
• Providing technical input during planning and feasibility stages, including constructability reviews, material selection, and cost estimates.
• Offering support during tender and construction phases, including site inspections, responding to queries, and ensuring correct implementation of designs.
• Contributing to pricing and proposal development, with the capacity to coordinate and lead multiple teams for input.

What You'll Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
• Strong experience working in a consultancy environment, with a solid understanding of project delivery, client interaction, and commercial awareness.
• Project experience, suitable to your career status, across all phases of a project's life cycle, with a particular focus on concept design, feasibility studies, infrastructure studies, technical management, and Design Management.
• Design experience for water infrastructure.
• A willingness to apply technical skills to all facets of engineering consultancy, which may include design, leadership, management, client relationship management, and work winning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey civil engineering outcomes using language understandable to clients, stakeholders, and other engineering disciplines.
• Solid time management and organisational skills.
• The ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders, producing quality reports.
• A desire to contribute, grow, and develop the capability and experience of the water team, while progressing your own career development.
