Job Description

Expressions of interest are invited for Local Area Coordination professionals for a full-time position in Maitland. Uniting NSW & ACT is seeking applications from individuals living with disability and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, valuing lived experience and committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Role Details:

  • Work Type: Full-time, permanent (38 hours per week)
  • Location: Maitland (onsite)
  • Salary: Starting from SCHADS 401 ($88,090 per year) plus $18,550 salary packaging and Superannuation. Hourly rate is $44.58/hour.
  • Work-from-home flexibility: 2 days per week.

Responsibilities: As a Local Area Coordinator, your role will involve:

  • Utilising people skills, multitasking abilities, and adaptability to assist participants in connecting with and navigating the NDIS.
  • Guiding participants to make informed choices and gathering information for NDIS plan development to build capacity.
  • Supporting NDIS participants in exploring avenues to achieve their goals and understanding their plan funding.
  • Providing linkage and referrals to community and mainstream services, as well as services funded by NDIA Grant programs, for people with disabilities, their families, and carers.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of how to best support NDIS participants through their pathway, with hands-on NDIS and Uniting training.
  • Undertaking other duties as requested by the Service Area Leadership Team, consistent with the general nature and responsibilities of the position.

Applicant Profile: We are looking for individuals with:

  • Strong people skills, customer service experience, excellent communication, and time management skills.
  • A background in disability, understanding of a Local Area Coordinator role, NDIS knowledge, or lived experience.
  • The ability to efficiently manage multiple responsibilities, experience with high KPI-driven work or targets/caseloads, and meet service delivery deadlines.
  • Adaptability, empathy, and resourcefulness, with a commitment to Uniting’s values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
