Based at either Wacol, Welshpool, or Mt Thorley, we are seeking a Machine Analyst specialising in Mining Hydraulic Excavators. This role involves working collaboratively with Komatsu Service teams, engineers, and our mining customers to enhance reliability, availability, and performance across large hydraulic excavator fleets.
This specialist position will focus on supporting mining-class hydraulic excavators. Candidates with extensive experience with Komatsu PC2000, PC3400, PC4000, PC7000, PC8000 mining-class excavators, or equivalent OEM machines, are strongly preferred.
You will integrate your technical equipment knowledge with SmartCare analytics, condition monitoring, and operational data to identify opportunities for improved performance, reduced downtime, extended component life, and to support customers in achieving their production and maintenance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and specialist support for mining-class hydraulic excavators within assigned customer fleets.
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc machine health assessments using Komatsu's proprietary monitoring and analytics systems to identify reliability and performance improvement opportunities.
- Analyse equipment performance, reliability trends, and component health to improve machine availability, utilisation, fuel efficiency, and component life.
- Investigate machine failures and recurring issues through root cause analysis and develop practical recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Communicate equipment performance findings and recommendations to Komatsu Service teams and customers, ensuring actions are understood and implemented.
- Collaborate with Product Support, Engineering, and Analytics teams to develop and enhance predictive maintenance and asset management solutions.
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of recommendations, documenting outcomes and demonstrating customer value.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while promoting Smart Solutions and industry best practice maintenance strategies.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and provide training on SmartCare analytics tools and data-driven maintenance practices to internal and customer stakeholders.
- Evaluate service performance and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing customer operating costs and achieving best-in-class equipment reliability.
What we are looking for:
- Trade and/or Engineering qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or equivalent.
- 5+ years supporting mining-class hydraulic excavators.
- 5+ years of managing product performance on customer sites.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, structural, and powertrain systems on mining excavators.
- Experience analysing machine condition and performance data to identify reliability improvement opportunities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical report writing skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into practical maintenance recommendations.
