Maintenance Lead
NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead for an onsite, full-time role in Townsville. This position offers a base salary plus superannuation and involves working within a major mining operation.
The Opportunity This role is for an experienced maintenance professional ready to assume a leadership position within a significant mining operation. Our client, a globally recognised resources organisation, manages a large-scale underground mine and processing facility in Queensland. They require a Maintenance Lead to manage the planning and scheduling functions for their fixed plant maintenance team. This is a notable chance to guide a team of seven maintenance planning professionals, fostering maintenance excellence, asset reliability, and operational performance within a challenging underground processing setting.
The Maintenance Lead will be accountable for directing the maintenance planning and scheduling team, ensuring that maintenance activities across critical fixed plant assets are conducted safely, efficiently, and reliably. A key aspect of this role involves enhancing planning standards, improving schedule adherence, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that support production targets and asset performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive best-practice maintenance planning and scheduling processes for underground fixed plant operations.
- Establish and maintain high standards for planning quality, schedule stability, and backlog management.
- Improve maintenance workflow discipline, execution efficiency, and labour productivity.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to optimise asset performance.
- Ensure maintenance priorities are aligned with asset criticality, operational risk, and shutdown readiness.
- Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance with all site and statutory requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across maintenance systems and processes.
- Maintain effective utilisation of SAP PM and work management systems.
Skills & Experience
- Previous leadership experience in maintenance planning, maintenance execution, or maintenance management environments.
- Strong fixed plant maintenance background within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, and Engineering functions.
- Experience in improving planning disciplines, maintenance processes, and team performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on reliability and risk management.
- SAP PM experience is essential.
Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline, and/or
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field.
- A Bachelor of Engineering is highly regarded.
