Maintenance Operations Manager

SBS and Mechanical is recruiting a skilled and motivated Maintenance Operations Manager. This new leadership position reports directly to the General Manager and is vital for ensuring the effective mobilisation, performance, and compliance of our maintenance workforce.

Roster: Monday to Friday, with required site visits. Location: Byford, WA. Work Type: Full-time, onsite.

The Role

As Maintenance Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily management of FIFO maintenance operations. This includes workforce mobilisation, client coordination, subcontractor and labour hire management, compliance, and operational performance. You will collaborate with recruitment, mobilisation, and payroll teams to meet labour demands, optimise rosters, and surpass client expectations. This is a non-hands-on role focused on coordination, leadership, and delivery across various sites and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily FIFO maintenance labour operations across multiple client sites.
• Coordinate workforce mobilisation, including rosters, travel, accommodation, and site access.
• Ensure trades and maintenance personnel are deployed according to client schedules and project requirements.
• Monitor labour utilisation, job performance, and delivery for FIFO projects and shutdowns.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key FIFO and resource-sector clients.
• Identify and support new labour hire and maintenance opportunities to drive business growth.
• Implement and enhance operational systems, processes, and workforce practices.
• Allocate labour, equipment, and subcontractors to maximise productivity and efficiency.
• Review labour costs, utilisation, timesheets, and invoicing for accurate cost recovery.
• Lead, support, and motivate FIFO maintenance personnel while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Ensure adherence to all client, site, legislative, and safety requirements.

About You

You will possess:

• Proven experience in maintenance operations within FIFO, labour hire, or resource environments.
• A strong trade or maintenance background with operational leadership experience.
• A sound understanding of FIFO mobilisation, workforce compliance, and site requirements.
• Experience managing multi-site workforces.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience in labour utilisation and cost control.
• Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced FIFO environment.
• Experience with labour management or workforce systems is desirable.
• Previous exposure to mining, oil and gas, or heavy industrial maintenance.
