HorizonOne Recruitment is seeking a Manager, Ground and Zone Assets Delivery for a full-time, onsite role in Canberra ACT. This position offers a salary of $220,000 - $232,000 plus 16% Superannuation and relocation assistance.

This role is with a leading commercial employer in the Canberra region, contributing to their next phase of growth and change. The organisation has a history of over 100 years of successful operation in the region and is one of the ACT's largest employers.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Ground and Zone Assets Delivery is a key member of the Network Delivery Group. This role is responsible for the stewardship and operational oversight of the utilities Ground and Zone Substation network. It is critical for delivering programs and projects that align with network plans, with the objective of enhancing reliability and customer service. This involves operating with a commercial, risk-based approach within a capital and resource-constrained environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of Zone Substations, switching stations, and on-ground and under-ground assets within the Evoenergy Electrical Distribution Network.
  • Leading the Protection and Zone Assets work delivery teams.
  • Delivering the works programs.

The Role

Reporting to the GM of Network Delivery, this role collaborates closely with the Manager Secondary Systems and Network Design to ensure the safe operation of the secondary systems network and the delivery of secondary systems works programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and leading the implementation of the Ground and Zones Delivery teams’ business plan, ensuring alignment with the Network Delivery business plan.
  • Developing and delivering the annual program of work for zone substations, secondary systems, on-ground, and under-ground assets within budget. This ensures network and community safety outcomes are met in accordance with corporate objectives, legislative requirements, and community expectations.
  • Financial management and accountability for the Ground and Zone Assets Section’s operational and maintenance budget, including the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Establishing and managing contracts for the delivery of projects and maintenance activities within the portfolio.
  • Developing close working relationships with asset management teams to inform them of emerging trends in asset performance.
  • Managing the portfolio’s emergency response and field resources during declared emergencies to restore supply and re-establish network asset safety as quickly as possible.
  • Participating in the on-call roster, as required.

The Ideal Person

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced and accomplished electrical engineer with a proven track record in project delivery, resource planning, and works and contract management within electricity distribution.

You will have over 10 years of industry experience in leadership roles and the ability to work collaboratively and lead with purpose. Additionally, you will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, coupled with significant years of operational experience in a similar role.
  • An MBA, Master in Engineering, or Master in Management (desirable but not essential).
  • Proven business and financial acumen, with experience managing capital and operational programs exceeding $20 million.
  • A deep understanding of electricity network infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a technical workforce within an industrially complex environment, including motivating teams and influencing others to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organisational-wide change in safety, works delivery, and improvement initiatives.
  • The ability to utilise Asset Management Systems Engineering and Analysis skills and practices to manage works programs and practices end-to-end, using IT systems to support this requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage safety and risk across technical operations.
