Manufacturing Engineer
BAE Systems is seeking a full-time Manufacturing Engineer for a hybrid role at their Osborne location.

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Delivery Lead. Applicants should possess a technical background in Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronic Engineering.
As the Manufacturing Engineer, your responsibilities include developing process and installation instructions for items of varying complexity, in consultation with stakeholders. You will act as a liaison between design engineering and the production workforce, translating design intent into functional, practical instructions for the production floor.
Core Duties:
- Within the Build Strategy Team, learn and apply naval ship construction fundamentals and lead the development of installation strategies for key Platform Systems.
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the engineering value stream to develop artefacts for use by the production floor workforce.
- Track equipment from delivery into the shipyard through installation onto the ship, providing support through to handover to the commissioning department.
- Receive internal and external training and exposure to diverse experiences to develop subject matter expertise in ship's platform systems.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders for the design, planning, and execution of engineering activities and projects.
Key Criteria:
- Possess a defence security clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
- Be eligible for clearance under International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
- Applicants holding a diploma in Engineering or a higher degree will be considered. Experience in shipbuilding is favourably considered and may be accepted in lieu of other qualifications in some circumstances.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve positive business outcomes.
- Exhibit an interest in Maritime Platform Systems, including shipboard mechanical and marine systems.
- Understand the role of Mechanical Engineering, also known as production engineering, within a shipyard environment.
- Be highly motivated to achieve optimal results, working effectively as a team member and autonomously when required, with a naturally analytical, evidence-based approach to problem-solving.
- Be curious and open-minded, while maintaining a healthy scepticism in the absence of solid evidence.
