Next Day Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Draftsperson for a multinational engineering services and equipment supplier specialising in heavy industrial equipment. This is a mid-level design position within a growing engineering team.

The role encompasses a multiskilled design function across mechanical, structural, and piping disciplines. You will be responsible for generating 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, piping layouts, isometrics, P&IDs, bills of materials, and technical documentation for projects involving heavy industrial equipment and plant. Design project ownership is a requirement.

You will manage your technical work independently and engage with sales, logistics, aftermarket teams, customers, and manufacturing suppliers concerning design scope, modifications, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilise Autodesk Inventor to create 3D designs for mechanical, structural, and piping elements.
• Prepare piping isometrics, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, and bills of materials.
• Engage in structural steel fabrication and support structure design, including elements such as roofing, stairs, walkways, and platforms.
• Draft designs for conveyors, belt filters, bins, support frames, plant equipment, and associated mechanical components.
• Perform basic design calculations, including hand calculations as needed. Complex engineering calculations are not anticipated.

About You:

• Possess 5 years of experience in mechanical, structural, piping, or industrial design.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
• Have exposure to piping design, isometrics, P&IDs, mechanical layouts, and fabricated equipment.
• Experience with heavy industrial equipment, mobile plant, mining equipment, materials handling, tanks, silos, pipework, platforms, walkways, or structural steel fabrication would be advantageous.
• Be comfortable liaising with internal teams, suppliers, manufacturing, and customers.
• Exhibit good attention to detail and the ability to manage your own design workload.
