Mechanical Engineer (Buildings)

Stantec Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join their Perth Mechanical team. This full-time, remote position offers a great salary plus benefits and genuine flexible working arrangements.

About the role: This position is suitable for a qualified candidate with Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) design experience on building projects. The successful applicant will be expected to work independently, support team members across a variety of projects, and manage their workload across multiple projects at different completion stages. Attendance at project meetings and strong consulting skills are required. Current projects include healthcare, commercial, retail, defence, industrial, and educational buildings.

Day-to-day tasks will involve:

  • Developing HVAC engineering designs, including heat load calculations, equipment and reticulation sizing and selection, coordination, and documentation.
  • Demonstrating technical knowledge to provide oversight and supervision for successful project delivery.
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders such as architects, contractors, builders, and end users to achieve efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.
  • Managing HVAC design projects in compliance with codes and company quality standards.
  • Contributing to in-house design and project meetings.
  • Adhering to Stantec's professional standards, ethics, and quality procedures.

Requirements:

  • A Mechanical Engineer Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Ideally, 3+ years of previous HVAC design engineering experience within the building services industry in a consulting capacity.
  • Knowledge of the National Construction Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and other applicable software.
  • Ideally, experience planning and managing successful projects.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat opportunities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
